Roofing And Panelling Done In Modular Homes

How Is Roofing And Panelling Done In Modular Homes

One of the most important aspects of building prefabricated homes in India especially, is to give them a proper roofing. Climatic changes in the country change suddenly almost all the time. Even if the cabin is temporary, it needs to have a definite and strong roofing as well as wall panelling. There are various kinds of roof and panels available which can be customized as per the requirement of the making of the cabin.

Roofs are generally made of metal, and metal corrodes. Therefore, incorporating colour coated roofing sheets is essential. It is important because the paint will protect the sheets from humidity, moisture, rain, and other factors that can corrode the metal sheets. Protection from the heat is also pursued up to some extent from the colour coated sheets. There are more aspects to roofing that come into play when preparing the roofing for prefabricated homes.

The metal sheets that make the roof of these temporary cabins are not supposedly plain and thin. There are grooves or folds in these metal sheets which serve a particular purpose. Because of such a structure, the roofing is then made more durable and acquire a certain amount of strength and is expected to have a longer life. This kind of roofing is termed as corrugated roofing. Hence, along with colour coating, corrugation in the roofing is also necessary.

When it comes to walls, sometimes metal sheets are used here as well. However, this can lead to heating up of the cabin which is inconvenient in summer. An alternative for this is the use of cement panels. It is known that the cement can be heavy and is mainly a permanent building material. Although, there are lightweight cement panels which can be used for temporary, modular homes and portable cabins. These panels are a great alternative for wall panelling of prefabricated cabins.

Polyurethane panels or PU panels are also a preferred option for wall panels. These are light in weight and are quite durable as well. And because of their lightweight and durability, these prove to be excellent in the making of temporary portable cabins. These panels are also energy efficient which makes them ideal for their use in roofing of the cabins. These are lightweight, yes, but are thick as well which make them resistant to the changes in the temperatures.

Another aspect of roofing is purlins. There are different kinds of purlins and one of the most common is C purlin. There are different C purlin sizes in India that are available. C purlins are horizontal metal structures that are incorporated to support the load from the roof deck or from the sheathing. The plane surface of the C purlin on either side makes it a preferred material for the purpose of cladding because of its easy installation on concrete structures as well as steel.

The companies that manufacture pre engineered buildings or commonly known as PEB companies generally have all of this research done before the designs are drafted for any given purpose. Different companies have different specialities and qualities of portable cabins which are to meet the requirement of the customers.

It is not always possible to build permanent structures and even if someone had them built, it would be a waste for temporary purposes. These prefab bungalows are used for corporate purposes for conducting business meetings at the site, or by families to spend a little vacation in their desired location or can be customized to make portable toilet cabins. The possibility of customization in these cabins is perhaps the best feature that they have.
