What is a Bungalow? A bungalow in simple terms is a one-storeyed house. In some cases, they can even have an additional half storey. However, the bungalow design is different from other multi-storeyed or ground level houses. A lot of designing and planning goes into the construction of bungalows.

A brief history

Derived from the Hindi word "Bangala", meaning "belonging to Bengal", they were first created in India during the British rule. They were designed as an informal rest house for ambassadors visiting the place. The British then took back this design to England and bungalows became a common concept in the country.   • A porch or veranda is an extremely common design component.
  • Usually, they have square and tapered columns.
  • They can vary between one storey and 1.5 storeys.
  • Occupies more square footage of the area that traditional multi-storeyed buildings. As a result, there is large scope for modifications and additions.

Bungalow design

Another important factor in construction is interior designing. The bungalow interior design is one thing that makes it stand out from the other bungalows and is a status symbol. Interior designers may start their work after the layout has been made, or they can simply remodel or modify the design after the construction. Interior designers use their technical, artistic, and other skills to make sure every part of the bungalow interior is aesthetically pleasing and serves the functions as required by the client. They will have to consider several factors such as the lighting, acoustics, flammability, the building regulations, structural stability, and several other factors to create the perfect design, and as a result, are an extremely important aspect of building a bungalow.
